Prima ballerina Olga Smirnova verruilde het Bolsjojtheater in Moskou voor het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam, omdat ze zich uitsprak tegen de oorlog in Oekraïne. In NOS Nieuws en Co een bijdrage van correspondent Iris de Graaf. Ze sprak met Smirnova. "I need to speak what I think is right. If I need to leave the country for that, I will leave the country."
